Visit to Kindergarten in Makome
We visited a little village Makome where we started a new Kindergarten this year. It was supposed to be 30 children 5/6 years old, but they are already 37. The village is 100 km from Mtwara and they live in mud huts here. We believe it was the first time they saw white people. They were at first a little afraid, but after getting lollypops and singing songs with us they started to talk and smile. The Kindergarten is half day and includes also a cup of gruel. And the gruel is very important for thees children. Many of them just gets two meals a day. Our local contact Wayzimen told us that they wished to get uniforms, because this is important to show that you go to school and they all clapped there hands when we said that we will support that. So uniforms and carpets to sit on will be bought this month thanks to friends who saw this on our Facebook post and sent money. Wohooo, thanks a lot!
